When students enter Norfolk Catholic Jr/Sr High School, they are randomly assigned to one of four houses - St. Katharine Drexel, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Francis Xavier or Pope St. Gregory the Great - with siblings being placed in the same house.
Each "house" is further broken into "families" which meet regularly to discuss relevant issues and upcoming events. Each family is headed by a family mentor.
The purpose of the House System is engage the student body, and reward both the Students and the House for demonstrating behaviors that are consistent with being excellent Christian Role-Models. The program is designed to develop Leadership Skills by empowering our upperclassmen to lead by example, motivate their House to also make the right choices, and be able to drive this group of students to win the House of the Year Award.
The House System will be providing a point system in a manner that will help hold students accountable and also highlight their achievements and Catholic Identity.
The top house and top leaders will be recognized with periodic rewards and opportunities. The House of the Year will receive a special event at the end of the year, to be determined, in addition to the scholarships.
The success of this program includes both student and parent participation to help support the goals and objectives.
